Electric bike laws vary slightly between European countries, but most follow a common framework for electrically assisted bicycles (EPACs).

Standard European Configuration
Unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer, the electric bikes featured on EMOTO are supplied in their standard European factory configuration, which typically includes:
- Pedal assistance (PEDAL ASSIST)
- Functional bicycle pedals
- Assisted speed limited to 25 km/h (15.5 mph)
- Continuous rated motor output limited to 250 Watts
This configuration is intended to comply with the general European requirements for electrically assisted bicycles.
Classification as an Electric Bicycle
When operated in their standard European factory configuration, these bikes are generally classified as Electrically Power Assisted Cycles (EPACs) rather than motorcycles or mopeds in many European countries.
As a result, they are typically treated similarly to conventional bicycles, provided they continue to meet the applicable legal requirements.
These generally include:
- Maximum assisted speed of 25 km/h
- Continuous rated motor output of 250 W
- Functional pedals
- Electric assistance only while riding in accordance with the applicable regulations

Speed Limiters & Performance Settings
